The book launch party in the nation’s capital

May 24th, 2010

I was looking forward to the book launch party in Washington because I hadn’t been there in a few years. There is so much great talent in that area and I was happy to see old friends and meet so many new ones.

I am grateful for the warm reception and the hospitality extended by The Historical Society of Washington, DC.
A very warm thank you goes out to Jodi Moraru of EVOKE for providing the exquisite décor for this party and to Susan Hornyak for photographing the event.

I look forward to receiving editorial submissions from all of you who promised you would share some of those fabulous events.

Sarasota…was also featured in Betty White’s SNL’s CSI!

May 12th, 2010

Sarasota rocked the house – what an incredible book launch party!

I’d like to thank The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota’s General Manager, Jim McManemon, and Director of Sales, Kimberly Pate, for an amazing event. Chef Southwick concocted beautifully designed food stations that tasted even better than they looked.

Talk about posh decor! Ian Prosser of Botanica International Design Studio and Sarah Fairbairn of One Fine Day lent unprecedented attention to detail. Thank you Ben from Kaleidoscope Lighting for the wonderful ambiance, Quest Drape for the gorgeous draping and Allison East of Linens by the Sea for the stunning linens.

This event continued with a fabulous after party and the band Josh Walther and Phase 5 kept the dance floor full. Photography courtesy of the amazing Ryan Joseph, R. Joseph Photographics and video by the incredibly talented Brett Culp. So much talent!

Thank you Sarasota!

The Vancouver Club

May 11th, 2010

One of my favorite parts of this tour is putting a face to so many names and to have the chance to see so many old friends that I haven’t had the chance to see in a while. Something else that I love is going to each city and seeing the industries’ different sense of design aesthetic and approach to the wedding industry. When it comes down to it, the unifying thread is that we are all celebrating love.

Here is a fabulous video captured from the book tour event at The Vancouver Club. Look for the tabletops shown in this video in our 2010: Fall/Winter issue.

Thank you so much cabfare productions!

Mandarin Oriental Miami

May 10th, 2010

Some humbling words from Victoria Chase, Director of Social Catering, Mandarin Oriental Miami:

The definition of “grace” … elegance, refinement and style. My reference, in this particular context, is not to the word but the person. Mandarin Oriental, Miami recently had the distinct honor of hosting a book signing for Grace Ormonde’s “being in love never goes out of style”.

Costa d’ Este

May 10th, 2010

I just spent the afternoon in Gloria Estefan’s Costa d’ Este Beach Resort last Thursday for the Discover Love luncheon (for Indian River County Chamber of Commerce) with some of the top destination wedding planners from all over the country. It is the most fabulous hotel in Vero Beach!

The lovely decor and small touches make this place truly a secret jewel for exclusive and private destination weddings. Costa d’ Este offers unparalleled privacy for all of your guests while they celebrate your love.

Special thanks to Gloria Estefan and the resort’s catering manager and wedding consultant, Alba Vasquez!

Book Tour – 3 Cities Visited and 19 To Go

April 27th, 2010

With the first leg of the book tour coming to a close, I had some time to reflect on what I can only describe as an amazing experience at the launch parties in Beverly Hills, San Francisco and Vancouver. I feel humbled by your warmth and support. While the setting of each party was distinctly different, they all shared a similar energy and sense of excitement. It is truly rewarding to meet each of you and I want to thank for attending.

A special thank you goes out to Medhi Eftekari, general manager, and Jennifer Rebello, catering director of the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills , Philippe Lee of Jade Studio Productions and Crystal Lequang of Amazáe Special Events in San Francisco and Philip Ireland general manager of The Vancouver Club and Soha Lavin of CountDown Events in Vancouver.

I also want to thank everyone who has ordered the book online. The response has been overwhelming. Apparently, it will take much more time than I anticipated to personalize all the orders so far!

I look forward to the next leg of the tour:
Atlanta – May 3
The St. Regis Atlanta
Miami – May 4
Mandarin Oriental Miami
Sarasota – May 10
The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota

With My Warmest Regards,

Grace Ormonde

A Debut Worth Remembering

April 16th, 2010

It seemed like a decade of planning to finally witness the efforts in fruition.

I couldn’t have asked for a better team and place to host the debut of Grace’s new book. The California sun was radiant and so was everyone’s energy.

The air was wafting with romance and fine perfumes. The clinking of flutes made a delightful melody while silvery laughs filled the room. It was the calm before the storm. We eased our anxiety with bottles of Veuve Clicquot; room service was kept quite busy.

I met a new friend yesterday – Jason Groupp – introduced by Lawrence Chan.

While Mike Colon was photographing some of the models, we provided occasional distractions by shouting his name.
