Thank You!

August 5th, 2010

This book may be called Grace Ormonde Weddings – “being in love never goes out of style.” but it is thanks to the incredible staff I have supporting me and all of the talented people I have had the privilege of working with that have made this project possible. I can not fully express my gratitude to all of you for inspiring and supporting me in this endeavor.

acknowledgements. This book is more than a collection of my favorite wedding images. It is also a reminder of how important it is for me to honor meaningful relationships I have cultivated through my life. I have been fortunate to meet some amazing people in my professional career. I have learned from their wisdom, I have been touched by their kindness, I have been enriched by their guidance and I have been blessed by their friendship. My late friend John Cinq-Mars, who I miss dearly, was instrumental in encouraging and inspiring me to create this book. I am thankful for his unyielding support and his unconditional friendship. This project required the hard work and dedication of so many of my colleagues. I extend my warmest thank you to Achim Wieland, Jessica Latimer, Pat Appleton, Miner Grillo Fernández, Claudia Summer, Marion Delhees, Kelly Crosby, Sam Godfrey, Ron Manville, Cheryl Richards, Cesare Bonazza, Rita Hermes, Paula Goins, Rayva Harrell, Natalie Sowa, Paula DaCosta, Tracy Trouf, Karen Balzano, Tricia Carroll, Ines Di Santo, Timothy Furman, Ingrid Knapp, Kerri Esposito-Bruneau, Sandra Burke-Medeiros, Wendy Marquard, Carolyn Carver, Elizabeth Lecomte, Mindy Weiss, Lena Tsoukatos, Roberta Karsch, Lawrence Chan, Pablo Oliveira, Martha DiMeo, Celine Jaro, and all the amazing artists that created this content and the talented photographers who captured it.

Who Made It In

August 4th, 2010

Even though much of the book tour is over (content sigh for not having to get another another plane for a little bit), so many people are still asking me who made it in the book. So I thought I would share with you the official list of who was included. I am so honored to have worked with so many talented people and to have had the privilege of showcasing so much talent throughout the country and abroad. This book is a tribute to all of you and it is an incredible feeling to be able to showcase your work in this labor of love.

Connecticut: A Night at the Theatre

July 30th, 2010

As I have traveled from one party to the next I have been in awe of and touched by the level of work that people are investing in each party in each city. These events have become more like a production than just a party, so what better venue to host the Connecticut party at than the The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford? With the party set at such a historical, dramatic and history-swept venue it was only appropriate to fully succumb to the theme and that is exactly what all of the vendors that so graciously worked on this event did. My sincerest thank you to The Bushnell for letting us host the Connecticut leg of the tour at your property, Max Catering for pulling out all of the stops in regards to the incredible menu, and Cathy Bates Event Planning for overseeing this every step of the way.

From the marquees with the cover of the book (*and my head shot*) to the 1936 Auburn Speedster in the courtyard to the black carpet with the GO graphic, two men in dinner jackets holding the doors at the front entrance, two pianists, flowers galore, live models, latin jazz band, valet parking, ambient lighting, espresso bar, lemonade stand and so much more. After entering the venue, going through the Grand Foyer, up the Belding Staircase, through the Autorino Great Hall and into the Belding Theatre, the party resided on the stage where the champagne and vodka never stopped flowing thanks to Allan S. Goodman and Vermont Spirits (who were gracious to supply vodka for most of the local events) and the fabulous Max Catering never stopped serving their incredible menu from BLT spoons to Lobster gazpacho shooters, miniature, locally-grown blueberry pies — and that is just the tip of the iceberg. I am tired just listing off everything; there was so much thought put into every niche of this party.

Thank you to florists A Special Place (Autorino Great Hall event design), Fleur De Lys (bridal bouquets and boutonnieres), DeVars-Phillips Florist & Antiques (Grand Foyer floral design), Hana Floral Design (bridal bouquets and boutonnieres), Flowers by Lane & Lenge (Belding Staurcase floral design), Pentimento Design (Belding Theatre event design) and Plantations Inc. (Courtyard plants). Thank you to The Bridal Salon at Corinne Weddings for the cocktail dresses and J.T. Ghamo, The Tuxedo Place for the menswear. Thank you to Ana Parzych Custom Cakes for the cake display and miniature cakes in the goodie — quite literally — bags, pianists Leana Reisman and Sebestyen Nyiro, Correlation Productions for the lighting design, Formal Indulgence for the espresso catering, Romance Tropical for the Latin jazz band, AFR Event Furnishings for the vintage-inspired lounge seating, Ruth Fischl for my incredible book signing station, and ProPark America for valeting that night. Thank you also to The Greeting Shoppe for making the program and menu cards, Pro Graphics for the logo which was implemented on the black carpet provided by MagnaKleen Services and XL Color for the marquee posters. Thank you to Naomi’s Studio & Salon for doing my hair and makeup and making it last on such a rainy day where humidity could have easily gotten the best of me, and last, but certainly not least, Matthew J. Wagner Fine Photography for capturing it all so that I don’t ever forget it, as well as The Bushnell’s photographer, Brian Ambrose Photography for being a part of our event. You were all pivotal parts in making this night one memorable production. All of your work was noticed and appreciated and it was a great way to end the tour until it resumes again in September.

XOXO,
Grace Ormonde

Trump International Hotel & Tower

July 26th, 2010

We just received this incredible video footage from the always-fabulous Rogie Cruz of RAC Visual Imaging. Although I, like many others, get a little camera shy, I think he did a great job capturing the Chicago event on June 13th at the Trump International Hotel & Tower. Thank you again to photographers Bob and Dawn Davis, Heffernan Morgan Designs, Swank Audio Visual, Cagen Music, and Take the Cake.

The Book Buzz

July 23rd, 2010

Since the launch of the book tour in April, 16 venues in cities across the United States and Canada have graciously hosted exquisite events that allowed us to connect with our readers and amazing wedding professionals.

Here is what some of them had to say about the book Grace Ormonde Weddings – “being in love never goes out of style.”

Book Cover

Back to Where it All Began: Rhode Island

July 23rd, 2010

Every single party has been incredible and I can’t thank the venues and contributors in each city enough for everything they have done to make these past few months so memorable, but hosting the party here in Rhode Island was particularly sentimental.

When “Grace Ormonde Wedding Style” was approached about going national in 2003 we had the privilege of hosting the launch party in Newport’s The Chanler at Cliff Walk, which was also celebrating their opening that year. To come back to this stunning venue 7 years, 20 issues and 1 book later to celebrate with so many friends and talented professionals was such an honor. And although threats of rain loomed throughout the night, the weather held out for a memorable evening complete with stunning views of First Beach.

I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to The Chanler’s general manager, Christine Sullivan, as well as the entire staff who made this night possible, including Chef Thomas Duffy and his team for creating the absolutely delectable menu. Thank you to my friend and talented photographer, M. Benedicte Verley, for capturing the event! Thank you also to John Orton for Stoneblossom Floral & Event Design, my brother Tony of Ormonde Productions, Rentals Unlimited and The Perfect Setting at Felicia’s for working together to design the east meets west décor.

I would also like to thank award-winning composer and musician, Mike Renzi, for playing the piano, Vermont Spirits for donating the vodka for the delicious blueberry martinis and Sweet Indulgence for creating the most ingenious things for the dessert bar. Chocolate “sushi” anyone?

Although the night seemed to fly by and these parties never seem to be long enough, I had such a wonderful time and I am reminded why I continually embrace Newport. There is something very unique about this part of our small state and I just can’t seem to ever tire of it. Stay tuned for Connecticut on Monday and have a great weekend.

Tented Soirée in Maine

July 22nd, 2010

The national part of the tour has surpassed all of my expectations, but there was something nice about coming home and hosting all of the local events throughout New England. Maine’s event on Tuesday, July 13th was held at The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport and it was quaint and perfect. The staff was so accommodating and the culinary team pulled out all of the stops with quintessential Maine lobster in everything from lobster cakes to lobster crostinis and so much more.

Sperry Tents Seacoast was so gracious in setting up one of their magnificent tents overlooking the Kennebunk River, whose bank was dotted with Adirondack chairs perfect for basking in views of all of the sailboats going by—did I mentioned I love the water? Teaming up with Minott’s Flowers Distinctive Floral Design and Rentals Unlimited, the talented Melanie Bibbo of Blissful Beginnings Wedding & Event Design planned the entire event from soup to nuts, filling the tent with a bounty of candlelight.

Flour, Flowers & Sweets provided the delicious cupcakes and the incredible Jacques of Jacques Fine European Pastries created a charming cake. I would also like to thank Maine Limousine for bringing their 1962 Antique Bentley, as well as Rockwell Productions, Goldenwood Ensembles, Dulcinea Violin Duo, and the American Ballroom Dance Academy for providing all of the entertainment. Thank you so much to Chris & Cyndi Smith of C.A. Smith Photography/Ocean Exposure for capturing everything and Bruce Cullen of Dream Images for taking video footage.

It is now obvious why Kennebunkport was the summer home of the Bush family and I can’t wait to go back for pleasure instead of business.

xoxo,
Grace Ormonde

PS – thank you Joanne McDonough of Joya Beauty and Lena Hartford of Hair That Moves for making me look so good that night—wink, wink.

Living it Up in Toronto

July 21st, 2010

It has been a few years since I have been to Toronto and everyone involved in the book tour event at the Park Hyatt Toronto on June 9th did their best to ensure that I come back again soon. I was so impressed by all of the stops that had been pulled out, that I am already trying to figure out when I can go back. There is just something about the talented professionals in Canada—I feel like you get me and my vision and what this book is all about.

I was thrilled to see how many old friends came to support me and how many fabulous new people and e-friends I had the pleasure of meeting. This event would not have been possible without the incredible Craig Gruzd of Designing Trendz who worked so hard to make it happen. I would also like to thank the entire staff of the Park Hyatt Toronto who were so accommodating in offering us such a beautiful location to host the Toronto leg of this tour, as well as Anthony Manieri & Michael Caringi of 5ive15ifteen Photo Company for capturing everything.

Many thanks also to Alexandria Pellegrino & Jessica Smith of Cake Opera Co. for transforming the cover of Grace Ormonde Weddings – “being in love never goes out of style.” to a confectionery masterpiece and couture bridal gown designer Ines Di Santo and the fabulous Veronica Di Santo for having live models wear some of her latest collection.

Craig of Designing Trendz also put together another soirée for the next day and I would like to thank Executive Chef Domenic Chiaromonte of Match Events & Catering for his inspiring menu, which he presented in an extraordinary way and we just might feature in a future issue so be sure to check back, Paul Kenyon of Absolute Tents and Events, Exclusive Affair Rentals, Micki’s Luxury Linens & Special Event Draping & Décor, It’s My Potty, and electric violinist Grenville Pinto.

Sorry for the delay in posting this and be sure to look out for pictures from our New England events (Maine/The Nonantum Resort, Rhode Island/The Chanler at Cliff Walk and Connecticut/The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts) over the course of the rest of the week.

xoxo,
Grace Ormonde

The Windy City was Very Cozy- Chicago Book Launch Party

June 13th, 2010

There is something about Chicago that makes me welcome every opportunity to visit there with exuberance. Besides, the food in Greek Town is always good!

Grace and I were happy to be at The Trump Chicago Hotel for the book launch party . The team at the hotel outdid themselves! A very special thank you goes out to director of sales and marketing Robert Prohaska, Cyndi Roppolo-Rosenberg, director of catering, who did an amazing job along with the chef on the food and Aristene Aurand for all her help.

Rishi Patel from Heffernan Morgan Designs created some amazing table designs and was responsible for the overall decor. The lighting from Swank Audio Visual under the direction of Ernie Vega and Gabriel highlighted everything beautifully. The entire evening was embellished with the sounds of Cagen Music. I thoroughly enjoyed the cake from Mary Winslow of Take the Cake and I know everyone else did as well.

Bob and Dawn Davis from Bob and Dawn Davis Photography captured the images that appear below (with the exception of the two they appear in.) It was such a pleasure finally meeting the two of them in person. Rogie Cruz from RAC Visual Imaging is editing the Video footage which will be posted soon.

I enjoyed meeting photographers Kenny Kim, Jeff Woods, Angela Talley, Dana Rosini, Josie Kern and a very charismatic Rosalind Bordo from Two Bright Lights who has created a particularly helpful online interface for publishers to access editorial photography.

I look forward to my next visit in Chicago in early July.

Right at home in Boston

June 1st, 2010

A trip to Europe kept me away from the leg of the book tour after Vancouver. I was particularly happy to be back in Boston for our first local party and it was nothing short of spectacular. The Mandarin Oriental Boston was the perfect venue. What a great space for a party! Both Grace and I extend a warm thank you to Mark Schwindenhammer, Director of Catering, Tom Stroik, Director of Sales and Marketing, Edwina Kluender, Director of Public Relations and Chef Nelson who created a beautiful cake that evening.

Brian Rafanelli of Rafanelli Events put his personal touch as only he can on the décor, and BlueGuava Design Group did an amazing job with the flowers. It was nice to see Brian Phillips in action photographing the event and Lawrence Chan and Bruce Cullen of Dream Images capturing video. Whenever I see Bruce working, I feel I am on the set of a Hollywood production!

A big thank you for your support and kind words about the book to all of you who attended.
